Fairness Doctrine a.k.a. Hush Rush Doctrine

Do you know what the so call Fairness Doctrine is … really do you know? In a nut shell the “Fairness Doctrine” is an attempt to ensure that all coverage of controversial issues by a broadcast station be balanced and fair. The FCC took the view, in 1949, that station licensees were “public trustees,” and as such had an obligation to afford reasonable opportunity for discussion of contrasting points of view on controversial issues of public importance. The Commission later held that stations were also obligated to actively seek out issues of importance to their community and air programming that addressed those issues.

Well in 1949, few people had TV, there was no cable, no internet and no access to any other news media than what was presented on radio, much like those presentation of FDR’s feel good propaganda speeches in his radio address fireside chats of WWII. Since most people in America in 1949 only had radio as a news source the FCC was afraid that radio stations alone could sway American opinion with no counter point. Clearly not the case today as there are 100′s if not 1000′s of alternative news sources.

But this is not the opinion of the loony left, oh no they think that it’s not fair the people want to listen to talk radio, and that has to be stopped. See left-wing media dominates the cable airways and the federally funded PBS and NPR but do you hear the right whining? No, you’ll hear us make fun of them and mock them them, but we’re not calling for a law to silence them, why not? Well if you listen them long enough, any sane person would conclude they’re nuts, that they are absolutely crazy … note that only the sane people will discover this, sadly there are is a large number of insane people in the country, nearly all of them on the left.

So why does the liberal left dominate the televised cable and the conservative right the radio? Well the left needs pictures to understand basic thoughts and the right doesn’t. They on the left can’t make it through the day without a box of crayons.

Frankly we on the right could demand that the fairness doctrine be imposed on NPR and PBS and have every right too since it’s federally funded. We we know you have choices and you can choose to turn it on or turn it off. And in that lives the reason … you have choices today you can watch MSNBC, NBC, CNBC, CBS, ABC, CNN or read 99.9% of the American Newspapers (God help you) or you can watch FoxNews and read the New York Post or Washington Times. Thankfully the internet as of yet still has choices and the loony left can find fodder for their mental illness and equally the conservative right can discover what the liberals in congress are trying to put on you in the name of fairness.

Simply the Fairness Doctrine is anything but fair, it’s a effort to hush Rush, stop Sean and kill Levin … all because the left wing radio has failed .. why did they fail because they ran their business like they run government … straight into the ground.

This just in Henry “Phantom of the Opera” Waxman is moving forward with the suppression of free speech. Read that article carefully as he wants to extend this suppression to the internet.

UPDATE: Rush Limbaugh has his say here.
