As some of you know I’ve busier than a one armed paper hanger so I’ve been post slacking a little – bear with me while I catch up.
OBAMA, BIDEN DECLARE “RECOVERY SUMMER”: Vice President Biden today will kick off “Recovery Summer,” a six-week-long push designed to highlight the jobs accompanying a surge in stimulus-funded projects to improve highways, parks, drinking water and other public works. Biden will present President Obama with a report laying out a spike in stimulus activity this summer, and how it will contribute to a steady climb to a total of 3.5 million Recovery Act jobs by the end of the year. Biden, Obama and other administration officials will travel to more than two dozen Recovery Act project sites in coming weeks.
When Obama took office the unemployment rate was around 8% and the Nation debt was was $10,699,804,864,612.13 – now nearly a year and half after Obama took office and signed the job-saving, economy growing, nearly magical Stimulus Bill the unemployment rate is close to 10% and the national debt is $ 13,085,265,271,447.21
However it has been said since last year that the bulk of the stimulus money would not be spend until just before the election – this is something the White House denied as they had to pass the Stimulus Bill right damn now before the Universe exploded…
David Axelrod said: “This summer will be the most active Recovery Act season yet, with thousands of highly-visible road, bridge, water and other infrastructure projects breaking ground across the country, giving the American people a first-hand look at the Recovery Act in their own backyards and making it crystal clear what the cost would have been of doing nothing
New jobless claims up sharply as layoffs persist
The number of people filing new claims for jobless benefits jumped last week after three straight declines, another sign that the pace of layoffs has not slowed.
Initial claims for jobless benefits rose by 12,000 to a seasonally adjusted 472,000, the Labor Department said Thursday. It was the highest level in a month and overshadowed a report that showed consumer prices remain essentially flat.
But I guess it’s all the Census jobs they were touting last time — or could it be the stimulus failed?
In other news Obama made some piss-poor babbling speech this week about the oil spill which I didn’t watch since I could care less what that moron has to say – however I did hear a few sound bites from it that made no sense at all. Near the end of his babbling diatribe he said…
Instead, what has defined us as a nation since our founding is our capacity to shape our destiny — our determination to fight for the America we want for our children. Even if we’re unsure exactly what that looks like. Even if we don’t yet know precisely how we’re going to get there. We know we’ll get there.
You got that right slick we are going to fight for the America we want for our children and it will start in November 2010 with the taking back of Congress and it will apex in 2012 when we send your incompetent ass packing. This guy is clueless – I’ve forgotten more about leadership than this clowns even known.
I did go read the transcript and my GAWD what a babbling fool trying to find away to sound competent – sadly he doesn’t realize that can only come from experience and you can’t fake it with words.
Coming up later the Movie of the Week and the Angry White Guy going off on a Food Stamp defrauder in the grocery parking lot early this morning.

Heh, yeah, the presidential speech-writer must be slipping. Effectively that little quote at the end sloughs all guidance off into some vacuous “It’ll all work itself out.” Sure knows how to take charge when the stuff hits the fan, huh?
Of course, no real surprise that jobless claims are up. Especially considering in some places, you can get unemployment benefits for up to 99 weeks! Even our good friend the lawmaker is questioning the wisdom of our unemployment benefits system: http://alturl.com/xn93
