Screw you Marvel Comics and screw you too Captain America

When I was a kid I collected Marvel Comics, DC Comics, MAD, Cracked and the like, then I joined the Marine Corps (not Corpse) and went off to service my country and while I was gone much of my childhood found it’s way to the trash including my comic book collection I could have now retired on… in light of this recent act by Marvel I’m not so sure I miss them.

Opinion: Captain America’s Newest Arch-Villains? The Tea Partiers!

So, if you are a Tea Partier, congratulations! You’ve just made the list of General Capitalism’s arch-enemies, right along with Hitler and Red Skull! Feeling good yet? Unfortunately, this is nothing new or even unusual from the American Left since the Tea Parties first launched last April. Janet Napolitano rushed out the door a DHS handbook on right wing extremism that matched the Republican party platform point for point.

Tea Partiers have also been a favorite target of late for TV’s Law and Order. In the episode FED, in which police found the mutilated body of a census worker with FED scrawled across his chest (sound familiar?), cast member John Laroquette went off on a tangent railing against “Bill O’Reilly, Glenn Beck and the rest of them” responsible in spirit for the magic-markered murder victim (which in real life was deemed a staged suicide). O’Reilly had some choice words on his Factor show in response, declaring Law and Orderout of control” and debunking the many untruths written into FED, most particularly regarding his longtime support of a humane solution to illegal immigration.

Now if you are a member of a Tea Party or have ever gone to one you are a racist, anti-government, anti-tax, anti-American arch villain of Captain America looks like I need to introduce my own superhero known as General Capitalism out ranking the little tights wearing flit-boy Captain America.

Not that truth ever gets in the way of good political Hollywood Lefty slander of anyone to the right of Lenin. We Americans have come to expect a degree of liberal left-wing propaganda from Hollywood in TV shows and mainstream films. It’s the nature of the beast. Yet it is the studios’ and film producers’ rights to make those propagandist films and TV shows, even writing eco-correctness into all the networks’ major TV shows to push Obama’s Cap-and-Trade bill. Just as it also our right to refuse to patronize such films and TV shows. Law and Order is free to die in the ratings (which it is), just as Brian de Palma’s Redacted was free to suffer the worst domestic box office ever for a significant release by a major Hollywood director. It’s their money, and America is a free country last I checked. Been getting kinda iffy lately with stories like these.

Yes kids it’s time for General Capitalism and he is here is kick ass and take names and one of those names on the list is the formally great now fatally infected with the deadly liberal virus Captain America sadly there is no know cure for the liberal virus as it is a progressive disease that eats away at common sense and self reliance of the unwitting citizens and former superheroes alike. Justice will be served.

UPDATE: Marvel’s non-apology apology

Marvel admits to ‘mistake’ in controversial Captain America comic

Marvel Comics Editor-in-Chief Joe Quesada defends the Captain America story line in issue number 602, but he apologizes for a panel in comic book that seems to identify the Tea Party movement with the fictional group portrayed in comic,

Where Mr. Houston is correct is in our accidently [sic] identifying in one of the held up signs, the group as being a part of the Tea Party instead of a generic protest group. That’s something that we need to apologize for and own up to, because it’s just one of those stupid mistakes that happened through a series of stupid incidents.

According to to Mr. Quesada, the book was ready to go to printer, but the panel in question had a group of protesters handling signs with no words on them, so the editor asked the letterer to “fudge in” some quick believable slogans at the last minute. The letterer referred to this sign as a sample to work from. Unfortunately, the reach of the Tea Party smear job from broadcast media affected a story line at Marvel Comics, regardless of error. While, comic book companies want to give fantasy characters a sense of current day realism, wading into areas of politics is guaranteed kryptonite for at least half their readership.

Are you buying it was just a stupid mistake? You saw the panels above – mistake? Doesn’t Glenn Beck have “Watchdogs” why yes – I believe he does. I for one believe Marvel knew exactly what they were doing and got cold busted… now the question is do I keep my Marvel movies or do I sell them to buy protest poster board?

And if you are still willing to give Marvel the benefit of the doubt that it was just a stupid mistake in making Tea Partiers villains then I ask you do you remember this? Spider-Man and Barack Obama team up

By the way George Bush made a few cameos in Marvel a total of 11 over 8 years, but he never made the cover and Obama has already appeared in 8 issues and 1 cover in his first year as of this writing… just so you know.

Mistake? The only mistake I see was believing Marvel actually cared about freedom and justice.
