“This, from the president’s chairman of the National Endowment for the Arts” you know the ones that kowtow to Obama and do all they can do to promote Obama’s personal agenda on the taxpayers dime, but to say Obama is the most powerful writer since Julius Ceasar… HA! … HA!
1.) Obama has never released anything he had written in college, nothing, nada, zip. So we can’t evaluate his writing.
2.) His autobiographies are not what I or many others would call great scholarly works… it’s basically his whining and self praise. (I guess that’s a little “Ceasaresque.”)
Here is the direct quote from this pinhead at the NEA Rocco Landesman…
This is the first president that actually writes his own books since Teddy Roosevelt and arguably the first to write them really well since Lincoln. If you accept the premise, and I do, that the United States is the most powerful country in the world, then Barack Obama is the most powerful writer since Julius Caesar. That has to be good for American artists.
Ah… Lincoln never wrote any books. Oh there are collections of his letters and speeches but no ‘book.’ See Lincoln was running a war and didn’t have time to write books and have Latin dinners or go out campaigning or play golf he was busy with the busy of the job of governing… oh wait Obama has a couple of wars going on too… hmmm you’d think he would focus on those instead of campaigning and entertaining. Additionally, if Obama wants to say something in Latin and be ‘Caesaresque’ try … Ego deficio, vidi, veni or for the Latin impaired “I came, I saw, I failed.” See Julius Caesar while a great leader in the military, something Obama has never attempted was also a tremendous self promoter and propagandist that manipulated the “plebs” with government handouts… he bought their support with millions of Denarius and appointed himself dictator for life… but we’re not here to speak of Roman history. Read Dionysius (Halicarnassensis) if you want that, but it raises the question of the ides of March.
I might ad that there are a few writers a little better than Obama… I’d say in terms of Presidents how about Ronald Reagan? How about Woodow Wilson (remember we’re talking as writers)… what about Teddy Roosevelt? I’d dare say the benchmark for Presidential writing is U.S. Grant… considered by many the best presidential writings in American history thus far, included in this thinking is the little known half ass writer Mark Twain. To put Barack Obama and his “white man greed ruins a world in need” blabbing in the ranks of these writers is just idiotic. I’ve read parts of Obama’s book, I could not stomach all of them, they are average at best and I’m being kind.
In case you are wondering Twain said of Grants book…
“I had been comparing the memoirs with Caesar’s Commentaries… I was able to say in all Apologetic forms that the same high merits distinguished both books – clarity of statement, directness, simplicity, manifest truthfulness, fairness and justice toward friend and foe alike and avoidance of flowery speech. General Grant was just a man, just a human being, just an author…The fact remains and cannot be dislodged that General Grant’s book is a great, unique and unapproachable literary masterpiece. There is no higher literature than these modest, simple Memoirs. Their style is at least flawless, and no man can improve upon it.”
It is both scary and laughable how some of this people, like Rocco worship Obama as if he is some sort of gift to mankind. It boarders, if not crosses into an illness of the mind, a small mind that can not see the bigger picture of the destructive nature of the Obama policies. They can not see the machine being built to suppress people into a dependency on government for their health and welfare… I’m warning you, do not depend on the government… depend on yourself, do not be the Roman plebis. Once you depend on the government your freedom is gone.
There is more of Rocco’s antics, but just know there are a lot of these mentally ill idol worshipers out there and Obama is placing them in positions of service to him. Obama and his minions to not have your best interest at heart… it’s all about power. To quote Scott from Powerline regarding Rocco Landesman’s statement…
It would be hard to pack so much ignorance into one short paragraph if one were really trying. We can deduce that Landesman doesn’t even have to try.
