This is going to be a short post, recently some local roads that they have been working on long before the stimulus package was ever even thought of receiving some shiny new signs that ‘this road project is being brought to you by the stimulus package’. All of these roads were already under way, were already funded, were already planned and were already being built, but recently big shiny signs claiming that this was a stimulus project appeared in the work zone.
How can something be a stimulus project if it was already being built prior to the stimulus package? What they are doing is there a jumping on projects already underway, projects already funded, projects on the books long before “The One” came into office. This is nothing more than political propaganda to give the appearance that stimulus money is being used to build a road that was already being built. Case in point the new road running between Mayfield, Kentucky and Murray, Kentuckyhas been underway and on the planning table for several years, but yet this is being claimed to be a stimulus project this is part of the new Highway 80 that has been being built for at least two decades. Currently they are working on a section between the “Land Between the Lakes” that was started about two years ago and is now being graced by a stimulus funding sign. Not only do these signs cost about $5000 apiece most of the ones I’ve seen are a lie as they are putting them on projects that have been long underway.
But what do you expect we have a Democratic governor in this state that took his slice of the stimulus pie and paid off the deficit due to his gross overspending and poor fiscal management. The simple fact is regardless of what the governor says we don’t have a tax revenue shortfall, what we have is a government spending more money than they’re taking in and in Kentucky we have a balanced budget amendment so when you can’t take the stimulus money and actually spend it on stimulus buy some signs and stick them on projects already underway, I’m so sick of the fraud. I’m so sick of the lies. I’m so sick of the abuse of power and you really have to wonder if the people in Frankfurt or your capitol or even in Washington see the anger is building in this country?
As a side note a recent poll showed that the over all percentage of people in this country that would classify their general mood as angry is that 72%. (I saw it on the news and I think it was a Gallup poll) Something the politicians might want to think about.
