US falls in Public educations… but Obama still believes he can run health care better.

xingI was thinking about this Obama speech to school children and the work sheet released by the Department of Education with questions like…

What is the President trying to tell me?
What is the President asking me to do?
What new ideas and actions is the President challenging me to think about?

My question is what can Obama doing to improve the nations ailing and failing schools? See Obama runs around talking about how the US is ranked 37th in Life Expectancy world wide without giving you a the details of the numbers and how the American health care system sucks so this is why we must overhaul the entire health care system all this according to Obama. What Obama doesn’t tell you is that our nations public school system which is ran by the government in many parts is ranked near the bottom in the industrialized world, so in my opinion before the government runs the health care why don’t you improve the school system… do you really want to put your health in the hands of the entity that can not run public schools or the post office effectively? Let’s have a look at the most recent data…

U.S. slipping in education rankings

The Organization for Economic Cooperation and Development places the United States 18th among the 36 nations examined, USA Today reported [Nov 2008].

That is the half away point to the bottom which is the direction it’s headed, health care on the other hand using Obama fuzzy numbers is 37 out of about 200. However Obama only uses life expectancy which is questionable at best as it doesn’t factor homogeneous verses heterogeneous populations.

This drop in 2008 which the report above covers was yet another drop from a fall 2005 study.
U.S. Education Slips In Rankings

The Bush administration says the 2002 federal law known as the No Child Left Behind Act is fueling higher achievement among all students — particularly poor and minority kids — by holding schools accountable for progress.

But the international data, mostly gathered in 2003, are not recent enough to confirm that the law is producing results, McGaw said.

I doubt that it is, I’ll tell you right now I believe the “No Child Left Behind” program is a abject failure do the standardize test I’ve witness myself. Teachers and principle alike encourage the teaching of the test alone and not covering the broader range of subject matter, this in my opinion gives false result as teacher are awarded based on the results of their student taking the test, at least that is the case in Kentucky.
Principle would be awarded bonuses and praise for high test scores, however they rarely covered anything out side of the scope of the test.

So if Obama wants to nationalize health care, then he should focus on fixing the things government is involved in right now that need fixing before he takes over something new that’s not perfect, but not broke. things like the VA, Medicare, Medicaid all have low marks and receive a failing grade overall… fix those, fix the schools and fix the post office… then talk to me about what you can do for health care.

This little pep-talk tomorrow is going to do little to change anything as Obama believe he is a one man motivation machine and he is not. I’ve read his long winded speech…

Raw Data: Obama Speech to American School Children or what the TOTUS will tell him to say.
Now if you ask me the wording of this speech was changed as the original school class work release and the words of the speech don’t mesh completely. If I was a betting man I’d say the White House weakened it and toned it down some before the current release.

The speech itself is all rather parental, well Obama my child has a parent, parents actually and I along with the mother are those parents so you can butt out thank you kindly. We’ll raise our child, We’ll teach them values and ethics (Something Obama was never taught) and we’ll be the motivation behind our kids schooling, we really don’t need your nanny state mentality butting in were it doesn’t belong.

Here are the highlights…
1.) Study hard and pay attention.
2.) If you need help in school, ask
3.) Not every one can be a rapper or basketball player.
4.) Wash your hands a lot.
5.) Take care of the environment.
6.) It’s all about him as he said “I”, “me” or “my” about 75 times.

First, I know of no child were I live that wants to be a rapper or basketball player… maybe a NASCAR driver or County Music star… so Obama need to remember the entire country is not inner-city urban ghetto, in fact 99% is not, might want to make a mental note Barry and get out a little more and meet some taxpayers instead of tax takers.

This is one of Obama’s biggest problems is he has had nearly no contact with middle America and has made no effort and learn what makes middle America tick and all these Tea Parties and evidence of the disconnect they feel with this administration. We all don’t listen to rap and do drugs, we all don’t collect a government check and think the world owes us a living… some of us, I’d say most of us has pride and self respect.

Additionally in his speech he said that he and his wife grew up poor, maybe he was a little strapped for cash, but he wasn’t poor I mean come on how do you move from country to country if you’re poor? And his wife grew up higher middle class and far from poor so stop telling lies BS Barry.

All and all the speech in it’s current form is fairly harmless nor is it needed and it’s all a waste of school time and the entire classwork worksheet pre, during and post speech exercises is more than a little creepy. While the northern schools just my now be going back, we around here have been back in school since Aug 5th… something the urban Yankees might want to make note of next time you go talking smack.

But this speech is a speech that could be posted on YouTube and if parent wants their kids to see it then those parents can go to YouTube and play it if they want, just like his weekly Saturday addresses… just keep it out of the class room… and you liberals don’t give me crap about Reagan… ok, Reagan did not have YouTube or the modern Internet and furthermore more Reagan was a great president that ended the Cold War… Obama can’t even effective run Cash for Clunkers. Nuff said.

More here…
I repeat: It’s not the speech, it’s the subtext; Update: Don’t let me, me, me down
Obama school speech released; Update: Obama’s priority in speech

Great article and you hit every nail right on the head. My kids were actually scared that they’d be forced to watch der Fuhrer’s speech. Luckily, we live in Texas and their school is not forcing his socialistic crap down their throats. My friend asked his daughter what she would answer to the question, “What can you do to help the President?”. Her answer is priceless; “I’d help him write a resignation letter.” Keep up the good work, love the site!
