Michelle Obama whom I have ZERO use for has a staff of 22 people… this is not a staff in my opinion it’s an entourage. So let’s have a look at the *itchy Obama’s entourage’s salaries for staffers in the “Office of First Lady” and this is newest up to date list, give her time she’ll add more.

The highest paid is Chief of Staff Susan Sher, who gets the top $172,200.00

I’m sure the Obama’s ONLY released this information because it’s required by LAW.

Because of the increasing demands on presidents’ wives in recent years, partially because of the obsessive celebrity culture, resulting in an expanded public role, I don’t begrudge tax dollars for Michelle Obama’s social secretary, a few chefs, maybe another employee or two or even listing some nice clothes as a legitimate business expense.

But given President Barack Obama’s (D) very public scolding to companies who received bailout money not to host lavish business conventions and such, the Congressional grilling of auto executives who flew to Washington on private planes instead of commercial or even using their own cars and similar public put downs, this lavish retinue of numerous (mostly) ladies in waiting reeks of a certain je ne sais quoi, let them eat cake mentality.

Perhaps Ms. Obama’s staff should follow the example set by her husband’s staff and blame–or in this instance, learn–everything on the situation she inherited. As Ralph Alter pointed out yesterday:

For purposes of comparison, please consult Dan Froomkin’s 2004 White House Staff List-By Salary published in the Washington Post on June 13, 2004. Tallying Laura Bush’s staff from the list provided by Froomkin totals $561,325 in annual salaries for the former First Lady’s staff.

In other words, even accounting for inflation, Laura Bush’s expenses were less than half of Ms. Obama’s–and this was in those flush times derided by Obama fans. If Michelle Obama wants to be involved in more projects than those required by her husband’s job, that is her personal choice. And it should be her personal expense.

Ok lets be fair and look at Laura Bush’s staff in her last year at the White House in comparison…
You will note that the first two staffers were in service to both George and Laura Bush, there are no dual staffers under Michelle Obama, it’s all about her.

And Laura Bush (note dual service divided by half) … $626,900.00

A difference of $870,600.00 more for Obama, it must cost a lot of money to put lipstick on a pig.

Now even if we give full charge to the two Bush staffers that worked for both the First Lady and the President solely to the First Lady we still only get $763,400.00 a full $734,100.00 less (about half) than Michelle Obama thinks she needs, also keep in mind this was Laura Bush’s staff after 8 years in the White House and equally this is Michelle TrOllbama’s staff after 6 just months and I haven’t seen her do anything but go on vacations at our expense.

You’ll also notice that most of the Obama staffers are for “social” and “traveling” and Laura Bush had ZERO social and traveling staffers. Eight, count then 8 of Michelle Obama’s staff is for “social”, “traveling”, “trip” and “event” and you get to pay for it. I wonder if we’re still a mean country and if she proud of her country now?
