If you’ve been paying attention the White House sent out a mass e-mail to 10′s of 1000′s maybe 100′s of 1000′s of people to rally support of Obama health care drive, problem is a lot of those folks say they didn’t sign up to receive e-mails from the White House and would like to know how they got on the list. The White House denied keeping a list but Fox News’s Major Garrett asked how the White House got the e-mail addresses of private citizen that didn’t sign up for e-mail alerts and Robert Gibbs said he’d have to have the names to check it against the LIST… would that be the same list that doesn’t exist?

Now Sunday the list that the White house denied having release a statement…

“The White House e-mail list is made up of e-mail addresses obtained solely through the White House Web site. The White House doesn’t purchase, upload or merge from any other list, again, all e-mails come from the White House Web site as we have no interest in e-mailing anyone who does not want to receive an e-mail,” the statement said. “If an individual received the e-mail because someone else or a group signed them up or forwarded the e-mail, we hope they were not too inconvenienced.”

Sounds like BS to me, it’s like this if you sign up to receive my RSS feeds to your inbox and email with be sent to you with a link to confirm your e-mail and that you actually signed up for it. If you do not confirm the request then you do not receive my RSS to your inbox, but the White House is acting like the the 21st Century techno-geek administration is not that savvy? It’s a simple opt-in link that validates the address so I’m not getting a bunch of bounces do to bogus addresses. And the White House is not using this simple technology?

So if you haven’t signed up for the RSS Feed do it now!! And remember unlike the White house you’ll have to validate your address…

Short of the long of it is either one of two things are happening here, either this White House is so dysfunctional they are pulling every name from every place they can to get out the propaganda, or two they are keep a list and merged various of list. Frankly I just think it’s just a sloppy operation ran by a bunch of elitist frat boys that have polled e-mail address from every possible source, including all the places they say they didn’t obtain them from.

UPDATE: The flag@whitehouse.gov goes dead today as it is now being bounced. I’d love to know how much spam they were getting.
