UPDATE: $140,000,000.00 of your money to go shopping.

UPDATE: Maggie Brooks: “Back to School” fraud widespread

Let me preface this a saying I’ve been poor, really poor, dirt poor, can’t pay attention poor as in eating rice 2 times a day (3 on special occasions) poor because that’s all I could afford, butter fergitaboutit. I didn’t have a phone or a TV and I kept the lights off in my massive 370 sq ft apartment because I couldn’t afford them on and more often than not I worked my rent off. I didn’t get a hand out, I didn’t get commodities, I got zip, nada, nothing from the government and I survived and I knew I could do better one day and I did.
I haven’t got rich… yet, but I don’t want for anything (aside from a different President).

So with that said, I have no time for those that stand around with their grubby little paws out and I’m talking about the able bodied to lazy to find a job, entitlement mentality losers and not the children and elderly. I have a minuscule amount of compassion and I know sometimes people fall on hard times and I’m willing to give a hand up, but not a hand out.

This week our government handed out $140,000,00.00 ($175M) to the so called needy out of the STIMULUS MONEY to buy school supplies, $200.00 per kid between ages 3 and 17.

Back to school spree: Billionaire, feds give out $175M to aid neediest students around the state

Billionaire philanthropist George Soros gave $35 million toward the program, with $140 million in federal stimulus funds routed through state government making up the rest.

Now what the pinhead PITA George “Originally from Budapest, Hungary” Soros does with his money is his business, what the government does with our money is our business.

“This gift has a special personal meaning to me, because I was once also a recipient of charity,  I’m very pleased that I’m able to repay what they gave me.” said Soros

Gov. Paterson and Mayor Bloomberg joined Soros to announce the payments at Public School 208 in Harlem, where the billionaire reminisced that as a penniless student in London, he survived because of a handout he got from Quakers.

Charity fine, tax handouts NO! So if these kids in NYC need school supplies go ask the Quakers.

Now this…

“It’s free money!” said Alecia Rumph, 26, who waited in a Morris Park, Bronx, line 300 people deep for the cash to buy uniforms and book bags for her two kids.

“Thank God for Obama. He’s looking out for us.”

Excuse me while I snap…

No it’s not FREE MONEY you stupid ass b*****! It’s the taxpayers $%#@! money!!! Why don’t you get up off your lazy ass and get a job, get a an education/training and get the hell out my pocket, the working American taxpayers pocket. Why is it the taxpayers job to buy your snot nose kids school supplies? You want $200.00 for school supplies, mow and weed-eat my damn yard! Makes my blood boil in case you couldn’t tell.

The $200 per child was…

The no-strings-attached money went to families receiving food stamps or welfare.

Every child between 3 and 17 was eligible for $200, which worked out to 813,845 kids across the state – including 498,866 in the city.

Now, I realize it’s a bit of a contraction on my part to say that I am willing to help kids and then go off on tangent about buying school supplies for said children. First, I have kids and it doesn’t cost $200.00 for school supplies, not even in New York City. (If it does, where the hell are you shopping?) However, I’m all for looking out for a kids health, safety and to make sure they’re off the street and have food to eat and roof over their pointy little heads, but you have to draw the line somewhere and at some point these parents need to be responsible for the lives they brought into this world and if that means less trips to the hair salon, less spent on games and toys, less on luxury (Your poor remember you not suppose to have luxuries, been there, there done don’t give my any crap.) then so be it. To hand over $200.00 per child for school supplies and expect that $200.00 to go JUST for school supplies and nothing else is just foolish. Give the money to enable the schools to provide the supplies for the kids and buy in bulk and save a ton of money… but you’d need a capitalist to figure that out. but then again I guess this was just SHOVEL READY SHOPPING.

“It is a plan that is ripe for fraud and abuse,” said Senate Republican leader Dean Skelos. “This is a totally irresponsible use of federal stimulus money.”

Ya think Dean? Surely not fraud from the Hopey-Changey crowd.

I’ll close but quoting again a founding father Benjamin Franklin…

For my own part, I am not so well satisfied of the goodness of this thing. I am for doing good to the poor, but I differ in opinion of the means. I think the best way of doing good to the poor, is not making them easy in poverty, but leading or driving them out of it.
