As you know I just bought a new domain name for 3 years it cost me about $29.00, yes I could have shopped around and found it for a few dollars cheaper but it was faster to just add it through my domain provider. So my investment in addition to hosting to “revamp” my site for 3 years was about $29.00… the government on the other hand is going to revamp the new launched recovery.gov for the bargain basement price of $18,000,000.00, $18 million… no company is their mind would ever spend $18 million to revamp a website, that is unless the company is the US Government.
“Recovery.gov 2.0 will use innovative and interactive technologies to help taxpayers see where their dollars are being spent,” James A. Williams, commissioner of GSA’s Federal Acquisition Service, says in a press release announcing the contract awarded to Maryland-based Smartronix Inc. “Armed with easy access to this information, taxpayers can make government more accountable for its decisions.”
The contract calls for spending $9.5 million through January, and as much as $18 million through 2014, according to the GSA press release.
$9.5 million through January? WTF? What is it going to have solid platinum code and diamond studded data? Anyway you slice it $9,500,000.00 or $18,000,000.00 is a lot of money to revamp a website and this is your money paying for it and I bet you don’t even get a e-mail address out of it.
Oh and this money of coming out of the nearly $800 billion porkulus bill. The Obama administration is wasting money in the amounts of billions upon billions and Obama is doing NOTHING.
