OBAMA, JUNE 30, 2008: Those who have tried to pull Iraq into the abyss of disunion and civil war are on the wrong side of history. Finally, the very fact that Iraqis are celebrating this day is a testament to the courage, the capability, and commitment of every single American who has served in Iraq. That’s worth applauding. (applause) Through tour after tour of duty our troops have overcome every obstacle to extend this precious opportunity to the Iraqi people. We’ve made important progress in supporting a sovereign, stable, and self-reliant Iraq; and everyone who served there, both in uniform as well as our civilians, uh, deserves our thanks.
OBAMA FEBRUARY 10, 2007: It’s time to admit that no amount of American lives with resolve the political disagreement that lies at the heart of someone else’s civil war. That’s why I have a plan that will bring our combat troops home bit March of 2008. Let the Iraqis know, letting the Iraqis know that we will not be there forever is our last best hope so pressure the Sunni and Shi’a to come to the table and find peace.
So which is it? Remember Obama slammed Bush and the military for their service and job in Iraq, he also failed to visit them until political pressure forced him to do so during the campaign, he also claimed the surge would fail and we would loose in Iraq… However, now he is trying to take credit for there success, there hard work seems to me Obama was on the wrong side of history and now is acting as if he never was. Don’t wrong Barack I and many, many others will be here to refresh your memory of the words you speak. He has no respect for the military and equally much of the military has little respect for him.
I don’t know a single member of the military that is happy under Obama (there might be some, I know of none), I don’t know a single member that regards him as the “Commander in Chief” and I know several getting out, my own brother-in-law a Marine Corps (oo-rah) is a Sargent Major is calling it a career, I have another brother-in-law is staying in only because he hasn’t enough time to retire yet, but he wishes he did as I have a few first cousins either getting out or bidding their time to do length of service.
