Here is a thought, on October 1, 1977 the Department of Energy went active it was on August 4, 1977 that Jimmy Carter signed the U.S. Department of Energy (DOE) Organization Act (Public Law 95-91) to solve all of our energy whoas due to the energy crisis of the the 70′s … 1977 that was nearly 32 ago. 32 year and we aren’t one step closer to being energy independent than we were in 1977. Yet we spend over $25,000,000,000.00 a year on the DOE that employs 16,000 Federal employees and over 100,000 contracted employees and still we are not one inch closer to independence.
What’s the point? The point is if you want something ran and done right, don’t hire the government to do it. Let me give you an example, there is a business here locally that is a agent of the DOE and they need a “clean up” do to the nature of there production and so far nearly $120 million of your tax dollars has been allocated for this clean up the mess, any one what to take bets as to the huge amounts of cost overruns this will see? $250 million, maybe … a half a billion possibly but you can bet your bottom dollar it will not be under budget, nothing is and government never is. Now I’m not slamming to folks that work at the DOE, I am slamming the governments arrogance that they think for a minute they can solve a problem or run any business, any business.
So if you think that the government can run the banks, run the auto industry, and health care … look around, we’re not energy independent, social security is broke, the post office is broke and schools are failing our children and you libs still think the government can do a better job than the private sector. Please give me a break. Take a big the pill of reality, if government is involved it will be bloated, expensive and fail at every turn and yet there are those that think government can do a good job… it just makes my head hurt.
