I haven’t really said anything about Bernie Madoff and all the drama surrounding him and his swindling of $65,000,000,000.00 from investors in a Ponzi Scheme. Why not? Well I’m not a millionaire or billionaire (yet) so I don’t relate to them on that financial level, after all I drive a pickup truck and I’m not driven around in a limo, I buy my jeans and shirts at Tractor Supply and not Sak’s 5th Ave. Hell, I had to look up Ponzi scheme to make sure we weren’t talking about Happy Days. (That’s a joke.)
So why say something now, well I was watching the news as Madoff plead guilty and listening to some of the “investors” that were taken by Madoff. I know they were wanting people to feel sorry for them and how they lost millions, but listening to them … I couldn’t feel for them, there was no way I could feel sorry for these people. Their own greed kept them investing on something that sounded to good to be true, that’s their fault not mine. Even every so-called “expert” I’ve heard thus far has said there was no way Madoff’s investments where seeing a 12-15% return year after year and that should have been a red flag to investors and now some of these investors are whining that the SEC should have warned them and they want to know if the government is going to replace their money. What the hell has happened to personal responsibility?
Replace their money? The taxpayer that is already strapped and they want their money replaces because they were a greedy sucker and invested in something that some of the really rich folks avoided because it smelled like a scam? So now I’m suppose to feel sorry for their plight? I heard one women say and my head nearly exploded …
‘I’m wiped out, I don’t know what I’m going to do. Now I have to watch how much money I spend.’
Well bless your little pea-pickin’ heart you’ve got to watch how much money you spend now, well how will you ever manage? I mean you might have to actually have to have a budget, welcome to the world of 99% of all Americans. So see most of these folks are so out of touch, they have no idea about personal budgeting, they spend what they want, when they want and as much as they want and that’s fine. I’m all about capitalism, I’m all about making as much as you can, I’m all about getting rich, but don’t come whining to me when you’re broke. That’s part of the game, sometimes you win, sometimes you loose, but if you loose suck it up, learn from it and don’t do it again.
Anyway, I’m not going to harp on and on about a bunch of rich folks that got suckered. Perhaps I’ll just forward them all the e-mails I receive from Nigeria regarding the millions I’ve been chosen to receive from some exiled African prince.
