I was going to post a first 50 days of Obama, but that’s a no brainer he has basically failed on a grand scale. No transparency, no earmarks reform, no fiscal responsibility, no bipartisanship, lots of lobbyist, tax cheats, bickering, lack of focus, grabbing at straws and fail, fail, fail. However in this age of government handouts from corporations to individuals, one has to wonder is there any reward in doing the right thing?
It would seem that the government and Obama can’t do the right thing nor do I believe they even know what the right thing might be? Is paying your mortgage on time the right thing? Is carrying your weight the right thing? Is being a responsible citizen the right thing? Is having a since of self worth the right thing? What is the right thing? It seems it’s open to debate.
I’ve been paying my mortgage on time with a little extra for nearly 20 years. Why? What’s the point I could have been a slacker and a deadbeat and gotten my mortgage adjusted with a cram down, potions of it paid by the taxpayer and kept my home, wouldn’t that be just dandy? Oh sure my credit score would have taken a hit but that don’t seem to matter anymore. So why should I work? Why should you work? You or I could just set home all day draw a welfare check and food stamps and live in our taxpayer funded home. Why should either of us do the right thing? Why should you go out there and bust your ass, work hard, scrimp, save, do without so you can do the right thing and pay your mortgage, your bills, your food and anything else you need to survive? Why should you be forced to make those hard choices between paying a bill and indulging yourself in something useless? What’s your reward? What’s your incentive? Hell, what’s the point? Screw it and do nothing, those other taxpaying people will pick up the tab, right? You can have your money and theirs too.
So why don’t you or I do that? For me it’s pride… pride, personal responsibility, self-respect and independence. I’ve said it until I’m blue in the face … you will never be free when you rely on others for your well-being. If you have your hand out waiting for someone or somebody at some point to put something in it you might be waiting for a while. You also have to take what you get as beggar’s can’t be choosers.
However, I think there is hope that when the conservative regain control and I feel they can with the way things are going and if they get on message of cut wasteful spending we can retake this country and revitalize self-pride and self reliance in people beat down and made dependent on the system. What some American are going to have to learn is we the tax payer can’t keep carrying them forever and that they have to carry their weight. The democrats want them dependent, because whoever controls your resources controls your world. The democrats know this and they capitalize on the weak and dependent, they’ll toss them a turd and tell them its wine. It will be tough to change this mentality, but Obama has unwittingly presented a unique opportunity to do just this and revisit the New Deal of FDR and the Raw Deal of the current administration. By running up huge debts, huge social programs, and fostering an entitlement mentality the conservatives and those that believe in personal responsibility can put an end to these handouts. Now understand that there are those that are truly needing of help from a caring society, the mentally disabled, handicap and children, but the slackers, the leeches, the parasites… they’ve got to go and they know who they are and I bet you know a few of them too.
Here’s the short of it, if you’re going to get a government check, and then earn it. If you want your handout and your food stamps and your Section 8 etc then you need to earn it, what is it that their fearless leader says? They’ve got to get some skin in the game. Go pick up some trash, clean a park, repaint lines for parking, I don’t care just earn the damn check that the taxpayers work so hard to pay you, quit being a moocher, get some skin in the game. Is it such a bad thing to live within your means and pay your own way? If you believe in Obama then I’m willing to bet you think it is.
