Movie of the Week #80 – Moon

Filed under: Movie of the Week — Tags: — AWG @ 6:42 pm

Moon

In honor of our late great space program that the idiot and thief has scrape in favor of Muslim terrorist outreach….

Sam Bell has a three year contract to work for Lunar Industries. For the contract’s entire duration, he is the sole employee based at their lunar station. His primary job responsibility is to harvest and periodically rocket back to Earth supplies of helium-3, the current clean and abundant fuel used on Earth. There is no direct communication link available between the lunar station and Earth, so his only direct real-time interaction is with GERTY, the intelligent computer whose function is to attend to his day to day needs. With such little human contact and all of it indirect, he feels that three years is far too long to be so isolated; he knows he is beginning to hallucinate as the end of his three years approaches. All he wants is to return to Earth to be with his wife Tess and their infant daughter Eve, who was born just prior to his leaving for this job. With two weeks to go, he gets into an accident at one of the mechanical harvesters and is rendered unconscious. Injured, he awakens back at the station in the infirmary, he assumes assisted by GERTY. GERTY tells him that a rescue team named Eliza will come to the station to clean up the aftermath of the accident. After his recuperation, he takes an unauthorized trip back to the broken harvester, where he makes an unexpected discovery. Because of his find, he begins to doubt his sanity, then his true identity, then the company and GERTY’s willingness to do what is best for him. Because of his resulting beliefs, his sole mission becomes how to get back to Earth on his own.

It was funny, now it’s just sad…

Filed under: FYI — Tags: — AWG @ 10:08 pm

I will admit it. I’ve watch the Daily Show more than a few times… I never understood why it’s called the Daily Show when it’s only on 4 days a week and half the time it’s reruns – that doesn’t seem like “Daily” to me. I guess in the liberal world working 4 out of 7 days and taking half of those off is daily.

Anyway, I’ll fess up Stewart can be clever and he can be funny I’ve listened to Steward rag on Fox and various conservative and I’ve laughed a few times – albeit I enjoy it more when he rags on liberals every forth blue moon, but Stewart’s ad nauseum attacks on Fox and conservatives are at first a little humorous – after all I don’t agree with every opinion or commentator on Fox and I can take a joke. I don’t agree with every conservative or everyone with an ‘R’ behind there name and I find some of the things they say prime comic material – but Stewart’s day after day and week after week, month after month of the same old jokes about Fox and conservative goes from somewhat humorous to annoying and final you just realize how really, really sad Steward’s life, staff and writers must be that their devotion to pure liberalism only affords them the opportunity to attack one target.

So I’ve given up watching Steward what little humor I found in his show including the jokes on ideologies that I subscribe to have grown old and tired. You just want to say “What’s up Jon, nothing funny, asinine or nutty on MSNBC tonight, this week or this month?” It’s really pathetic to me anymore.

President Obama: The Tea Party Is Stronger than Me

As I said the other day I couldn’t listen to Obama’s Monday night speech he’s just to much of a lying asshole… but one observation I got from listening to clips of what he said is interesting… Obama invoked Reagan and Reagan raising the debt ceiling 18 times and then in the next breath he criticized Boehner and the GOP for only wanting a short term debt increase…

Obama said…

Speaker Boehner unveiled today, which would temporarily extend the debt ceiling in exchange for spending cuts, would force us to once again face the threat of default just six months from now. In other words, it doesn’t solve the problem.

Can this idiot not do math? He is using Reagan… Reagan had the debt raised 18 time… he was in office 8 years… 18 divided by 8 which translate into raising the debt limit every 5 to 6 months… but Obama say Boehner wanting a 6 month debt deal is irresponsible. He is either a complete moron or he think everyone else is. And by the way Little Barry… I knew Ronald Reagan and you’re no Ronald Reagan and I also know that Reagan only raise taxes to get $3.00 in cuts for every $1.00 in spending and the lying ass Democrats reneged on their promise and Reagan said in his book it was one of the worst things he ever did was to trust the Democrats.

It’s simple Obama wants to get a deal past the election so he can travel around on our money campaigning and not have to be pestered with the chore of trying to act like an adult.

So since I didn’t listen to Obama’s entire speech I’ll turn it over to Big Government who did…

Re-post from Big Government
by Dr. Susan Berry

Below are excerpts from President Obama’s latest address to the nation concerning the debt and deficit talks, followed by “subtitles,” which perhaps provide a more accurate perspective of the points he made:

“For the last decade, we have spent more money than we take in.”

- I won’t mention, of course, that I have added more to the national debt in just my first 19 months in office than all presidents from Washington through Reagan combined.

“In the year 2000, the government had a budget surplus. But instead of using it to pay off our debt, the money was spent on trillions of dollars in new tax cuts, while two wars and an expensive prescription drug program were simply added to our nation’s credit card.”

-Well, no, the nearly trillion dollars in the Stimulus, bailing out the banks, and the auto companies- this was important money spent that could have otherwise been used to pay down the debt if I really wanted to. So, that money doesn’t count…And those Bush tax cuts have been a thorn in my side…I really began to lose my base on that agreement to extend them…And about those wars, I’m referring to the ones in Iraq and Afghanistan that Bush started…not the ones in Libya and Yemen I’ve gotten us involved in… Oops, I probably shouldn’t have dissed that senior prescription drug program because later on in my speech I try to use the seniors as pawns again to get them frightened about how Republicans want to cut their Medicare.

“To make matters worse, the recession meant that there was less money coming in, and it required us to spend even more.”

- That’s this neat Keynesian economics I learned in college. I thought I’d try it out on the country when I became president. We have less money, so we spend more. It really works!

“Now, every family knows that a little credit card debt is manageable. But if we stay on the current path, our growing debt could cost us jobs and do serious damage to the economy.”

- Okay, so we disagree on what exactly is “a little credit card debt.” But, I need to keep saying that our growing debt could cost us jobs because I don’t want Americans to keep thinking about how all my other economic policies, including Obamacare, have already cost us tons of jobs.

“The first approach says, let’s live within our means by making serious, historic cuts in government spending.”

- That’s the Democrats’ plan, of course. We Democrats are known for making historic cuts in government spending. Let’s see, Stimulus pork, bailouts, Obamacare, more unemployment benefits, more entitlements…yeah I think that adds up to historic cuts in government spending.

“Let’s cut defense spending at the Pentagon by hundreds of billions of dollars.”

- As I made clear during my “apology tour,” there is nothing about the United States that should be defended. Besides, I’m hoping to become “President of the World” someday, so a strong U.S. military is only going to undercut my chances of being elected by the U.N. to that position.

“Let’s cut out the waste and fraud in health care programs like Medicare – and at the same time, let’s make modest adjustments so that Medicare is still there for future generations.”

- What? You don’t think the $500 billion of cuts to Medicare in Obamacare is “modest?” Well, just wait until you see how much “waste” my IPAB cuts out of Medicare. We’ll make sure we don’t waste any government money on any senior who gets older than I think he or she should.

“Finally, let’s ask the wealthiest Americans and biggest corporations to give up some of their tax breaks and special deductions.”

- Please, please just do this so I don’t lose my entire base before the election next year!

“The only reason this balanced approach isn’t on its way to becoming law right now is because a significant number of Republicans in Congress are insisting on a cuts-only approach – an approach that doesn’t ask the wealthiest Americans or biggest corporations to contribute anything at all.”

- Damn those Tea Party House conservatives! See how evil they are, simply wanting to have rich people keep more of their own money. I also notice they’re taking the spotlight away from me, and that’s not good.

“But today, many Republicans in the House refuse to consider this kind of balanced approach – an approach that was pursued not only by President Reagan, but by the first President Bush, President Clinton, myself, and many Democrats and Republicans in the United States Senate. So we are left with a stalemate.”

- Have I mentioned that we’re having this problem because of the Tea Party conservative Republicans? And isn’t this a great line- throwing in the stuff about Reagan and Bush? I’ll bet I’m really confusing all you Independents.

“Understand – raising the debt ceiling does not allow Congress to spend more money.”

- Of course, if we raise the debt ceiling, I’m sure I’ll spend more money on things that I think are necessary, whether Congress agrees or not. After all, I’m the president!

“But the new approach that Speaker Boehner unveiled today, which would temporarily extend the debt ceiling in exchange for spending cuts, would force us to once again face the threat of default just six months from now. In other words, it doesn’t solve the problem.”

- And it sure as heck gives me an even bigger problem when I have to answer questions about the debt, and how much I’ve contributed to it right around re-election time.

“That is no way to run the greatest country on Earth. It is a dangerous game we’ve never played before, and we can’t afford to play it now.”

- I especially can’t afford to play it now because I have to get re-elected. And, as you all know, I’d rather be playing golf.

“I realize that a lot of the new members of Congress and I don’t see eye-to-eye on many issues.”

- Did I mention that those darn Tea Party conservatives are a pain in my butt?

“The American people may have voted for divided government, but they didn’t vote for a dysfunctional government.”

- Yes, they did elect me president…so, you’re saying they DID vote for a dysfunctional government?

“History is scattered with the stories of those who held fast to rigid ideologies and refused to listen to those who disagreed.”

- No, I’m not talking about the liberal Democrats and me…we listened to the American people…we brought he Republicans in on our discussions… I’m talking about those darned Tea Party conservatives!

…Don’t you all see? Those darned Tea Party conservatives are ruining my chances of getting re-elected!

Now you’re catching on, sir.

Hey, President Divider… where is your plan?

Anyone that listened to that partisan hate speeches by Obama both Friday and Monday night? I listened to Friday and I started on Mondays but about 1 minute into it I hit mute as it was going to be the same old tired bullsh!t that we’ve all heard before. Raise taxes, raise taxes and spend more.

Here is the deal in short… the GOP has offered up 4 plans…. Cut, Cap and Balance; The Ryan Plan; The McConnell Plan and The Gang of Six Plan. Are they perfect? No, not in the least! The Democrats on the other hand have offered up nothing – not a plan or anything tangible on paper. Just a bunch of partisan rhetoric and Presidential whining. The Democrats haven’t even offered up a budget in over 810 days… the government have been operating on Continuing Resolutions for over two years… Barack Obama did offer up a budget, a budget so bad, so over reaching that not even the Democrats in the Senate would vote for it – it went down 97-0.

Obama continues to “take his case to the American people” and so far – just as with ObamaCare his popularity and polls number drop. What Obama doesn’t realize due meaning to his clinical narcissism is that the new has worn off and anyone not on the Kool-Aid are taking a second look at him and seeing him for the divisive partisan that he is.

And where is Obama’s Plan? Even Carney had to admit that Obama doesn’t have a plan – he bad mouths all the plans out there but where is his? Put up or shut up Obama!

America under Obama has slid faster and faster down the hill – unemployment regularly over 9%, gas has doubled and food price rise with every trip to the grocer – private sector raises are nonexistent and the only standards of living improving are in Washington.

America can not afford 4 more years of Barack Obama – America cannot afford a Democrat Senate. America has to make some hard choices and adult decisions about the future of this nation and that will never happen with children running the White House.

Now those on the left and on the Kool-Aid will as always play the race card – Obama will play the class warfare card and continue to push for his socialist utopia. Additionally Obama will toss out rhetoric phrases like “shared sacrifice”, “revenues in the tax code”, “balanced approach” and other bags of bullshit to baffle to the clueless.

However the current plan laid down by Boehner is flawed and the House GOP agrees…

House GOP revolts against Boehner plan

House Republicans do not have enough support to pass their debt-ceiling increase plan on their own, a top conservative said Tuesday as his party’s leaders tried to cobble together a coalition of Republicans and Democrats to put the bill over the top.

So why aren’t the House GOP applauding this plan? Mainly because the spending INCREASES come first and maybe somewhere down the road the spending cuts come and what’s the problem with this? Well anytime congress puts spending cuts in place that will be spread out over 5 or 10 years are meaningless as no current congress can constrict future congresses without a CONSTITUTIONAL AMENDMENT! So a balances budget amendment is the only way to balance the budget.

BUT! There is a problem with a Constitutional Amendment – it gives Federal Judges the authority to render decisions on the Federal budget. So something would have to be written into the constitution to prevent that if that is even possible.

And that is the problem with saying oh we’re cut spending a trillion or so over 10 years… it’s bullshit and nothing but a political game to fool the public. Boehner talked tough the other night but the plan is weak.

What I have never understood and never gotten a decent answer for is why are spending cuts spend out over decades and they are rarely enough to offset the spending deficit in one year? To me it’s like making the minimum payment on a maxed out credit card… you’ll never pay it off.

Has China invented anything since gunpowder?

I know the debt deal circus is in town – but it keeps changing and morphing into something different endlessly and I know some folks (including myself) are sick and tired of borrowing money from China which brings me to today’s post about China – China is loaning us money they made stealing ideas from us! It’s like going to your neighbors yard sale and buying back the stuff they stole from you – something not right about that.

So now China is ripping off entire stores… fake apple Stores are popping up in China, oh shocker.

Frankly, I don’t care if Apple gets ripped off – they rip everyone off with there low production runs causing all the little Apple fanboys and girls to fight over the limited supply of product  just to release a “newer” model soon as sales slump on the old one and these people take it hook, line and sinker every time. Lemmings I tell you.

(No offense to the many friends and family I know that own Apple products…)

Anyway are you one? I’m not, I don’t own an Apple iAnything – I’ve always found them to be over hyped and rather cultish and their signal reception sucks.

So here is China that I don’t believe has invented anything since gunpowder around 1200 years ago are now ripping off entire Apple Stores – well boohoo for Apple.

Entire Apple stores being faked in China

BEIJING (AP) — At first, it looks like a sleek Apple store. Sales assistants in blue T-shirts with the company’s logo chat to customers. Signs advertising the iPad 2 hang from the white walls. Outside, the famous logo sits next to the words “Apple Store.”

And that’s the clue it’s fake.

China, long known for producing counterfeit consumer gadgets, software and brand name clothing, has reached a new piracy milestone — fake Apple stores.

An American who lives in Kunming in southern Yunnan province said Thursday that she and her husband stumbled on three shops masquerading as bona fide Apple stores in the city a few days ago. She took photos and posted them on her BirdAbroad blog.

And to my point everyone is afraid of China and China hasn’t had a new idea in 1000 years… as recently as the later 1950′s before Moa’s Great Leap Forward these people where and many still are now tilling fields with Ox drawn plows and we’re suppose to be afraid of this backwards nation? That was stuck in the 17th Century until the 1950′s? A country that can only produce what they backwards engineer or steal via hacking?

That’s all China does is backwards engineer everything – they bootleg music, movies, products and try to hack the Pentagon for more ideas. They are nothing but idea thief without the freedom or individuality to create on their own invention. Remember it was the Chinese government who was it trying to get the tail rotor of the American stealth helicopter the crashed in Pakistan during the Osama raid? Why… their culture doesn’t nurture originality to come up with these ideas on their own.

If God forbid something happened to America or even the Western world – China would fall back into a dark age… just like the original Dark Ages that the entire world fell into after the fall of Roman Empire. America and it’s glorious capitalism is the idea country, the country that creates, invents and develops. More new inventions have come out of American in it’s short 235 year history than in the previous 1000 years in China or the rest of the world for that matter.

In fairness there are 8… count them 8 inventions listed as Chinese modern invention on Wiki, how sad is that? 1.4 or so billion people and they’ve turned out 8 modern inventions in the last 60 years… pathetic. But contrast American inventions are broken down into several pages because there are so many of them.
China Officials Find 5 Fake Apple Stores in 1 City (But they didn’t find them until an American living there reported them)

I rarely listen to the idiot when he speaks but I do notice how they artfully placed each racial group in the audience to appear random… I can see the press people right now… ”

Obamabot 1 – “We need an Asian here and a Black women there… OK put a White guy there and the senior there… where is the Mexican.. OK Julio you set there and the youth voter there… do we have an Indian? Some one get me an Indian!”

Obamabot 2 – “We don’t have an Indian!”

Obamabot 1 – “What no Indian? Well dammit run down to 7-11 and get me one ASAP!”

Obamabot  2 “One Indian on the way… … somebody get me some curry.”

Obamabot 1 “Jeez do I have to do everything?… Now where the Jew? I need a Jew!”

Obamabot 3 “No Jew either.”

Obamabot 1 “Well is there a pawn shop around here anywhere… dammit I need a Jew to go right there or this will never work!”

I’ve noticed this for a long time and I bet that’s about how it goes… just watch any political speech and you’ll see well placed ethnically diverse people placed seemingly randomly in the crowd.

Team O…. The economy is vasty improved under Obama

Really? Are you delusional or have you just been drinking? Speaking for myself – work and contracts have dropped off substantially since Obama took office many citing the poor and uncertain economy under this president as cause for delay or cancellation.

Transcript from Real Clear Politics:

“Well, two things remain uncontestably true. The economy is vastly improved from what it was when Barack Obama was sworn into office as president. We were in economic free-fall. There were predictions that we were headed to the second Great Depression. We were losing up to, over 700,000 jobs a month, we were contracting at greater than 6 percent — our economy was. So, the economy has improved. It has not improved enough.
“Well, there’s no question that we face headwinds, and the president has been very direct about that. And we need to do everything we can, across the front, to ensure we’re doing what we can to spur growth, spur job creation.”

via Michelle Malkin on Facebook – “When Obama took office the unemployment rate was 7.2 percent — today, two and a half years later, it’s 9.2 percent. Gas was about $1.79 a gallon when Obama took office. Today it’s $3.68. There are around 13 million more people on food stamps today than there were in January of 2009. Sure, almost anybody can find statistics to suit their own argument, but all finger pointing to cast blame aside, if Carney actually believes it’s “uncontestably true” that the economy has “vastly improved” since January of 2009, he needs an uncontested psych evaluation.”

No doubt!
