Movie of the Week #19 – The Sullivans

The Sullivans (1944)
It’s Memorial Day weekend a time we remember those who have served and falling in service to their country. The five Sullivan brothers all served aboard the USS Juneau, the Juneau was stuck and sunk by a Japanese submarine in WWII during the Guadalcanal Campaign all five Sullivan brother dead in the attack. This lead to the “Sole Survivor Policy.” I could not image being told that all five of my sons died on the same day as happened to Mrs. Sullivan it would be absolutely devastating. The movie Saving Private Ryan is fictionally based on the story of the Sullivan brothers as Private Ryan’s brothers had all be killed on D-Day and the effort was put forth to save Private Ryan the sole survivor, sadly for the very real Sullivan brothers there were no surviving brothers.
So while you enjoy your hot dogs and hamburgers this weekend and you spend time with friends and family, please remember those that have given the full measure of devotion to their country and the families that lost them. Just a few minutes for thanks would be fine – is that to much to ask for? Freedom isn’t free.

Obama Will Not Rest
You always knew Bill Clinton was getting ready to deliver some bad news when he started a sentence with the words, “I’ve never worked so hard in my life….”
Similarly, you know Barack Obama is about to tee off on another 18-holes when he informs the world that he’ll never rest until something-or-other happens. As in:
Obama: ‘Will Not Rest’ Until Oil Spill is Stopped
President Barack Obama said Wednesday that he “will not rest” until the oil leaking from a ruptured oil well in the Gulf of Mexico, and added that the disaster “underscores the necessity of seeking alternative fuel sources,” Fox News Channel reported.
Of course he says this before he flies off to California for a high dollar dinner, Chicago for a vacation an a Paul McCartney concert and ignoring a age old tradition of the President going to Arlington on Memorial Day – in other words screw you fallen warriors I don’t have time for you, you’re dead… now I need to go on yet another vacation because I don’t have time to rest.
Obama: Administration ‘Will Not Rest’ Until All Suspects in Terror Plot Found
President Obama declared Monday that his administration “will not rest” until it tracks down everyone involved in the attempted bombing of a Detroit-bound flight on Christmas, and pledged to do “everything in our power” to ensure security in the thick of the holiday travel season.
Did they? Haven’t heard much about it because of other terrorist attacks that took place on his watch since then. But you have to wonder if Obama DID NOT REST? Hmmm?
Obama ‘will not rest’ until there are more jobs
“I will not rest until businesses are investing again and businesses are hiring again and people have work again,” Obama said after meeting with his Cabinet.
Seen any businesses growing that aren’t getting a government handout? Seen many help wanted signs? Hows that HOPE and CHANGE working for you?
Obama “Will Not Rest” Until Americans Get Jobs
With unemployment during that time at 10% Obama said: “I will not rest until businesses are investing again and businesses are hiring again and people have work again.”
How’s that unemployment rate? 10%? How is where you live? I can tell you that here it’s easy to find someone out of work than working… and it’s not getting better.
Obama ‘will not rest’ until healthcare reformed
“I will not rest until the dream of healthcare reform is achieved in the United States of America,” Obama said Monday.
OK he got that one but 63% of the American people do not want it and they will not rest until it is reformed.
Obama Will Not Rest until these problems facing America are solved or whenever he gets back from one of his many vacations and golf outings he has taken.

Did you get your Gringo Mask?
Yep the company that made the Gringo Mask Zubi’s on their website they have a banner about “erasing stereotypes” and then they create stereotypical mask… just more ignorant liberal hypocrisy. I guess there motto should be “erasing stereotypes on everyone accept Gringos.”
Company Pulls ‘Gringo Mask’ Website
“One may still be able to find the “Gringo Mask,” a product of one of the nation’s leading Hispanic advertising agencies, Zubi Advertising in Miami, on some websites. But they are now missing from the original site.
The free, downloadable cut out had featured a Caucasian male or female face. He with blue-eyes and sandy-colored hair; she with blonde hair with green eyes. The masks were available at www.gringomask.com until recently.”
Gringo huh? Wonder why this stereotype erasing company would make these?
“We chose this mask because of its light-hearted nature and tongue-in-cheek approach, much in the same vein as Jeff Foxworthy’s shtick ‘You Might be a Redneck’ or Carlos Mencia’s ‘beaner’ jokes,” states the GringoMask website “However, we in no way meant to offend anyone.”
Foxworthy is a ‘redneck’, Mencia is a ‘beaner’ but the folks that put the mask out aren’t ‘gringos’ you know kind like blacks can call each other the ‘n-word’ but no one else can, same goes for ‘gringo’ and I’ve yet to be called a ‘gringo’ by another white person and I’ve only been called gringo by Hispanics in a derogatory fashion.
“The site also states, “We understand from your responses that some people might equate the word ‘Gringo’ with an ethnic slur. We do not. It is simply a slang term used to describe Caucasians, and we don’t assign any negative connotations to it.”
Well guess what it’s not yours to decide if it’s a ethnic slur or not - I think if Whites consider it an ethnic slur than it is and this White guy considers it a slur! If that is your opinion that you can decide what’s a slur and what’s not then I have a lot of works I can use on various ethnic groups and then I’ll just say I don’t consider it a ethnic slur so it’s OK.
Here is the gringo mask website…
Now says…
“Thanks to your involvement, the GringoMask has achieved its primary objective to raise awareness of the potential for racial profiling by enforcement of Arizona SB 1070. GringoMask was not a commercial product or intended to be a long-term project, but a piece of satire to promote discussion and thought.
In addition to raising awareness, the mask was used to promote dialogue between people of different opinions in the hopes of arriving at better solutions than SB 1070, and to show solidarity with Americans of every race and color across the country that found this law unfair in its targeting of a specific ethnic group even if only implicitly. We chose this mask because of its light-hearted nature and tongue-in-cheek approach much in the same vein as Jeff Foxworthy’s shtick “You Might be a Redneck” or Carlos Mencia’s “beaner” jokes. However, we in no way meant to offend anyone.
We understand from your responses that some people might equate the word “Gringo” with an ethnic slur. We do not. It is simply a slang term used to describe Caucasians, and we don’t assign any negative connotations to it. In fact, the mask communicates that looking this way will keep you above suspicion of being an illegal immigrant in Arizona, a positive thing not a derogatory one. We hope everyone will view the mask the way we do…a comical tool to convey a message and raise awareness about an issue that is important to all Americans. If the campaign has been taken in a different light by some, we sincerely regret the misunderstanding.
Thanks for voicing your opinions and helping to get the dialogue going.
We look forward to a better solution to the illegal immigration problem.”
So what’s the big deal? Why does it matter it’s was all for fun right? Well Wiki says…
“Gringo is a slang Spanish and Portuguese word used in Spanish-speaking and Portuguese countries, principally in Latin America, to denote foreigners, often from the United States or the United Kingdom. The term can be applied to someone who is actually a foreigner, or it can denote a strong association or assimilation into foreign (particularly US) society and culture. The term is often encountered by people from the US traveling abroad to Spanish-speaking countries. The American Heritage Dictionary classifies gringo as “offensive slang,” “usually disparaging,” and “often disparaging.” However, the term can also be used to simply identify a foreigner and does not always carry a negative connotation.”
So are these folks saying I’m a foreigner in my own country? Either this Hispanic company doesn’t know what “gringo” means or it was a deliberate disparaging remark. Perhaps I’ll market some “Spic-Mask” or a “Wetback-Mask” and then ask the question when the Latin community goes ape shit over the word “spic” and “wetback” what is the problema? And I’ll release a statement that “We hope everyone will view the mask the way we do…a comical tool to convey a message and raise awareness about an issue that is important to all Americans. If the campaign has been taken in a different light by some, we sincerely regret the misunderstanding.” After all I know some regard ‘spic’ or ‘Wetback’ as an ethnic slur – and I can say I do not. That what they said about “gringo” so it’s seems turnabout is fair play. If that works for them then it will work for me. Right? (You know the real answer to that.)
Don’t you love the way people use the word “IF” when they apologize – to me that kills your apology as contrived and empty. “If the campaign has been taken in a different light” … well you called all Whites “gringos” so do tell what light were we to take it in? Flattery?
The reality is I am not offended nor do I care as I do not get upset over words and name calling – but I do grow tire of hypocrisy and you know it and I know it if I sent them a “Spec-Mask” I’d be charged with a hate crime where as a “Gringo-Mask” is a just light hearted fun – it’s bullshit and it needs to be treated as such and the more we point this stuff out the more we can show the hypocrisy of the left and those that think we are unfair.
UPDATE: The folk at MotherJone’s linked this article and in true liberal fashion resorted to name calling and misrepresenting the post since they clearly didn’t make it to the last paragraph above… They claimed I was “outraged” whatever morons – now we’re square. However I did make it to their last paragraph where they reveled how they real are…
But hell, what do I know? I’m a dumb pinko socialist fascist Nazi unpatriotic racist cracker honky. Which makes me about as worthless as a Kenyan Muslim anchor baby.
Yes… yes you are and yes it does. Something you finally got right.

An Open Letter to President Obama
Wish I could take credit for this, but I can’t, this is from Doug Ross @ Journal quoted here in it’s entirety…
Dear President Obama:
I’m planning to move my family and extended family into Mexico for my health, and I would like to ask you to assist me.
We’re planning to simply walk across the border from the U.S. into Mexico, and we’ll need your help to make a few arrangements.
We plan to skip all the legal stuff like visas, passports, immigration quotas and laws.
I’m sure they handle those things the same way you do here. So, would you mind telling your buddy, President Calderon, that I’m on my way over?
Please let him know that I will be expecting the following:
1. Free medical care for my entire family.
2. English-speaking government bureaucrats for all services I might need, whether I use them or not.
3. Please print all Mexican Government forms in English.
4. I want my grandkids to be taught Spanish by English- speaking (bi-lingual) teachers.
5. Tell their schools they need to include classes on American culture and history.
6. I want my grandkids to see the American flag on one of the flag poles at their school.
7. Please plan to feed my grandkids at school for both breakfast and lunch.
8. I will need a local Mexican driver’s license so I can get easy access to government services.
9. I do plan to get a car and drive in Mexico, but I don’t plan to purchase car insurance, and I probably won’t make any special effort to learn local traffic laws.
10. In case one of the Mexican police officers does not get the memo from their president to leave me alone, please be sure that every patrol car has at least one English-speaking officer.
11. I plan to fly the U.S. flag from my housetop, put U.S. flag decals on my car, and have a gigantic celebration on July 4th. I do not want any complaints or negative comments from the locals.
12. I would also like to have a nice job without paying any taxes, or have any labor or tax laws enforced on any business I may start.
13. Please have the president tell all the Mexican people to be extremely nice and never say critical things about me or my family, or about the strain we might place on their economy.
14. I want to receive free food stamps.
15. Naturally, I’ll expect free rent subsidies.
16. I’ll need income tax credits so that although I don’t pay Mexican taxes, I’ll receive money from the government.
17. Please arrange it so that the Mexican Government pays $4,500.00 to help me buy a new car.
18. Oh yes, I almost forgot, please enroll me free into the Mexican Social Security program so that I’ll get a monthly income in retirement.
I know this is an easy request because you already do all these things for all his people who walk over to the U.S. from Mexico . I am sure that President Calderon won’t mind returning the favor if you ask him nicely.
Thank you so much for your kind help.
You’re the man!!!
Sounds a little different when you reverse the facts.
Axelrod – No evidence that Sestak is telling the truth
Axelrod says no proof Sestak is telling the truth or in other words the White House is calling Sestak a liar.
Senior adviser to the president David Axelrod said Monday evening that there is “no evidence” that White House officials tried to keep a Democratic congressman from entering the Pennsylvania Senate race by offering him a high-ranking government job.
“When the allegations were made, they were looked into. And there was no evidence of such a thing,” Axelrod said on CNN’s “John King USA.”
That’s true Axelrod and there is even less evidence that the White House is telling the truth, so keep digging that hole David.
Congressman: White House Job Offer to Sestak May Be an ‘Impeachable’ Offense
Rep. Joe Sestak’s allegation that the White House offered him a job to drop out of the Pennsylvania Senate primary race against Arlen Specter is a crime that could lead to the impeachment of President Obama, Rep. Darrell Issa said.
Man I hope so!
Not much to say on this it is what it is – but what I find interesting is the Obama White House is dancing around questions about this and not coming right out and saying we didn’t do it or Sestek is lying which is there normal course of action. They want Sestak to win in November so they are not about to say anything bad about him – oh they tried to get Specter the win with campaigning and advertisement but they failed. Specter was a case of been there to long and no one trusted him.Now both Sestak and the White House has painted themselves into a corner.
1.) Sestak has repeated said he was offered a job, so he can’t back-peddle now.
2.) The White House has never denied doing it and they need Sestak in the House.
3.) The White house can not confirm it as it’s a violation of the Article II Section 4 of Constitution “high Crimes and Misdemeanors.”
4.) Republican Darrell Issa is on their ass and he has wants answers.
“It’s not about what was done wrong. It’s about the cover up,” Issa told Fox News. “And right now, there’s a cover up going on at the White House 10 weeks after the allegation.”

Both parties want answers about Sestak

Eric “Stedman” Holder has no intention of looking into Constitutional violation or Black Panther and voter intimidation but he got time to look into Arizona defending it’s borders from illegals – there is something really-really wrong with this government and the democrat mentality.

Civil rights and private business
The loony left is going bat-shit over a statement made by Rand Paul regarding the Civil Rights Bill and if business should be allowed to refuse service based on whatever model they choose – Paul said his didn’t agree with one section of the ten sections of the bill, he said he didn’t agree with discrimination however one part of the bill went to far in his OPINION – this is a standard libertarian views and a lot of people agree with it from many races… smaller less intrusive government in all areas of life and business … they are saying Paul thinks business owner should be allowed to discriminate – OK let’s run with that.
Every example I’ve heard from both the left and the right is a WHITE business owner discriminating against a Black or Hispanics – well this example is discriminating in itself choosing only the White folks as the racist; is racist in itself. So what if it’s a BLACK business own that doesn’t want to serve a Whites or Hispanics or skinhead or Klansman? Do they have the right to refuse them? It’s their business – if they don’t, why not? Why must it be always be the the White man they use in their examples? Why not a Jewish business owner that doesn’t want to serve Muslims? After all they would have reasonable fear the Muslim was there to blow the place up wouldn’t they? Why can’t a business owner choose who they serve? If the public doesn’t like the privately owned business’s discrimination against a group then they vote with they wallet and don’t do business with them, it’s that simple. We don’t need the government telling American private business owned by any race who they should and not do business with. Should a Hispanic business not be allowed to tell the Black Panthers or the KKK to stay out of their business if they are taking up all the seats not buying anything and/or scare off customers? Seems to me if a business owner wants to choose who they want as customers, just how customers choose who they want as a business then that’s their choice.
It’s not racism it’s freedom from government micromanagement of free enterprise.
There is nothing in the Constitution or the Federalist Papers about government telling private business how to run their private business – just like some businesses allow smoking and some don’t (around here) you are free to choose if you go there as a smoker or as a non smokers – the free market without government regulation will dictate which one succeeds or if both do, because people have the freedom to make a discriminating choice …. so let me tell you Rachel Madcow that is what I took Rand Paul to mean – government has no business in business let the free market determines the norm. Let the business decide and the then the customer can decide to or not to patron that business. Frankly, I want as many customers as possible because all money is green. As a small business owner I’m not going to say I’m going to turn away a single dime no matter who it is from. Pay up and I’ll do the work. Now – I know some private contractors that will not return calls to people who “sound” ethnic to which I say “give their number I’ll call them I want the money.”
So if businesses can’t discriminate then someone explain to me how Curves Health Club for Women can discriminate against men? Is it because it’s a CLUB? Well on there own website calls it a business and a CLUB and BUSINESS aren’t the same thing…
Curves is the largest fitness franchise in the world and the first to offer a 30-minute exercise program designed exclusively for women. Curves is a business where earnings are measured by your service to others.
They will sell franchises for $24,900 and have a working business model … well what CLUB has a business model and franchises for sale? If it looks like a business, talks like a business, walks like a business and has a business model – then it’s a business.
So while the left is going bat-shit over what they THINK Rand Paul said – they don’t understand that the US Constitution is silent on this issue therefore leaving it to the States (or Commonwealths) to decide and if you don’t believe that then read Federalist Papers number 45
Here I’ll help you out with the pertinent part…
On the other side, the component parts of the State governments will in no instance be indebted for their appointment to the direct agency of the federal government, and very little, if at all, to the local influence of its members. The number of individuals employed under the Constitution of the United States will be much smaller than the number employed under the particular States. There will consequently be less of personal influence on the side of the former than of the latter. The members of the legislative, executive, and judiciary departments of thirteen and more States, the justices of peace, officers of militia, ministerial officers of justice, with all the county, corporation, and town officers, for three millions and more of people, intermixed, and having particular acquaintance with every class and circle of people, must exceed, beyond all proportion, both in number and influence, those of every description who will be employed in the administration of the federal system. Compare the members of the three great departments of the thirteen States, excluding from the judiciary department the justices of peace, with the members of the corresponding departments of the single government of the Union; compare the militia officers of three millions of people with the military and marine officers of any establishment which is within the compass of probability, or, I may add, of possibility, and in this view alone, we may pronounce the advantage of the States to be decisive. If the federal government is to have collectors of revenue, the State governments will have theirs also. And as those of the former will be principally on the seacoast, and not very numerous, whilst those of the latter will be spread over the face of the country, and will be very numerous, the advantage in this view also lies on the same side.
What does all that say in a nutshell? Simple – if it’s not in the Constitution it’s left to the States… PERIOD! No “and” – “if” or “but” about it.
Check out John Stossels thought on it…

More jobless claims means more people working… do what?
The Obama White House is trying to get you to believe that the rise in the jobless claims means more people are looking for work… I’m sorry do what? Obama is trying to sell you that people are so encouraged by the economy that they are out there looking for work and filing for unemployment.
Do you get this? These folks that are now looking for work are applying for unemployment which I guess they didn’t do when they weren’t optimistic on the economy and that why the jobless claim numbers are up – so before these folks got so pumped on the prospect of of finding a job they just set around the house and did not even bother applying for unemployment… that is what you are to believe.
So for Obama or his minions say that an increased jobless claim is a sign of improvement is kind of like saying “Well doctor the patient is bleeding more so they must be getting better.” It makes no sense at all – and it goes beyond spinning and firmly stands in the lying square.
So why does Obama and Gibbs try to sale you on the idea that more people seeking unemployment benefits is a good sign? well two reason… 1.) they think you are an idiot and will believe them and 2.) the more people dependent on the government the easier it is to control the population. I’ve told you before when they control your money, they control your life.
Here is a simple question if signs of the economy is improving is higher jobless claims – then what were those people applying for those claims living on when they weren’t so pumped about the economy? Am I to believe they just sat around the house so depressed over the economy they couldn’t even apply for unemployment benefits and they lived off fairy dust and lollipop dreams?
If that is the logic then I guess the huge national debt it a sign of just how much money we have to spend, right? I don’t know if they are in denial or they are just delusional, but whatever it is they are not living in reality.
I think not…

Movie of the Week #18 – Raising Arizona

Raising Arizona (1987)
If you haven’t seen this movie by now you’ve been under a rock… great 80′s comedy from the Coen Brothers
It’s the story of “Ed” (short for Edwina), a policewoman who falls in love with “Hi” (short for H.I. McDonnough), while she’s taking his mug shots. She’s infertile and he’s a habitual robber of convenience stores, and their folksy marital bliss depends on settling down with a rug rat. Unable to conceive, they kidnap one of the newsworthy quintuplets born to an unpainted-furniture huckster named Nathan Arizona. A Harley-riding bounty hunter gets on their trail and things start to get dangerous.
