In the world of political journalism, it’s the end of an era: Helen Thomas has retired just months shy of her 90th birthday.
The longtime White House journalist has covered every president since Dwight Eisenhower and broke several barriers for female journalists but stepped down from her latest role — a columnist for Hearst Newspapers — in the wake of controversial remarks made in late May about the need for Jews to “get the hell out of Palestine” and return to Poland and Germany.
You know I’m happy Helen broke barriers and all that, but even Ms Thomas said on many occasion she was a progressive liberal first. So I think she can shoulder some of the blame of the direction of this country as she in her many 1000′s of writing injected into the her political views, not exactly what we expect from journalist but it’s what we get and with the thanks of the internet we can hear a alternative voice to the liberal media.
So bye-bye Helen what took so long? Frankly she should have retired 20 years ago.

Update: Helen Thomas quits after Israel comments
Closing thought I’m willing to bet Helen Thomas thought her Israeli comments would get cheers instead of jeers from this White House and on the inside it likely did, but far be it from this administration to throw people under the bus in a New York minute – and Ms Thomas should have been smart enough to know that.
