You want to know what is wrong with this country? It’s full of complete idiots and ultimate dumbasses – one thing I tell kids all the time is that if they do not pay attention in school that are distend for a life of saying “You want fries with that?”This is why people don’t understand the debt, they don’t understand the budget or the lack thereof one, there don’t understand unfunded liabilities, they don’t understand borrowing 40 cents of every dollar the government spends, hell don’t don’t understand that the money being spend is the taxpayers money. They cannot do the simple ass math needed to understand basic economics…
Doubt me here is an example …
Yesterday I went to Burger King – now I’m not a big fan of fast food and generally avoid it but I was in a hurry and they had a sale on fish sandwiches … on their marquee said “2 Big Fish Sandwiches $4.00″ … seems simple enough right? So simple a caveman could do the math on it right? Wrong…
Here is what happened …
I go in and place an order “TO GO” for myself and another person …. (I don’t do drive-thru as they screw up your order every time.)
So the conversation went about like this …
Idiot: Hi welcome to Burger King can I take your order? (I just skipped the ‘may’ vs ‘can’ screw up it’s not worth wasting my time.)
Me: “I would like the two of the 2 for $4 fish sandwich deals and 2 large fries to go please”
She rings it up and says… “That will be $28.58″ (She said it with a straight face and it never occurred to her that might be a little high for what I ordered.)
Me in a rather WTF voice: ‘No it’s not!’
Now my math – which is generally right 99.99999% of the time – my order should have came to $11.98 plus tax — The math 2X$4=$8 (fish sammies) and 2X$1.99=$3.98 (lg fries) or $8 + $3.98 = $11.98 X 6% tax = 72 cents tax … and boom a grand total $12.70 – this is basic math you can or SHOULD be able to do quickly and easily in your head. It’s not that complicated.
So I said – I think you need to try that again.’ So she tried again and this time she got $19.07 to which I said “Still wrong, try again” … now the women was using a register and she was a women not some kid fresh out of high school, she was a grown women that for all practical purposes looked to be of at least average intelligence. Well she wasn’t … she was a moron. This went on about 4 more times and each time she arrived at a different amount and was becoming more and more flustered and visibly upset asking me a couple of times if I was sure she was wrong. I simply said “You haven’t got the same amount twice, what do you think?” – The closest she got to the correct amount was $15.32!
Finally she tossed in the towel and called the manage over – the manager was a younger girl with way too much make up on to cover her zits and in serious need of a dental plan. She voided everything out and and punched it all in and somehow came up with the total of $9.54 … I leaned down on the counter and I said, that’s wrong too … that’s less than it should be… but I’ve been standing here for 15 minutes becoming ever increasingly frustrated with the American educational system so I said… “Tell you what… I’ll take it, I’ll take the $9.54″ and I handed her $10.00 – I’m sure I could have caused a head explosions if I whipped out exact change after they punched in the $10 into the register.
These people are going to school, getting a diploma and being turned out on the street complete morons incapable of doing basic math and they are VOTING! They are uneducated and ill informed… they are the low information voter and the reason we have Obama in the White House. They are just too simple to understand the complex issues facing the country – they are the American’s Got Talent – Dancing with the Stars crowds that hear only sound bites and they vote for handouts. They are why this country is failing by voting for and allowing panderers and liars to be elected.
It’s really sad that these people choose to be morons.
Oh side note – the biggest benefit of keeping a running total in your head of what you are spending in a store is to insure you are not ripped off at the register. So many stores do not price their products and if you don’t keep a total in your head you’ll be over-charged for an item priced wrong in the system or inadvertently buy a more expensive item placed in the wrong place on the shelf. And if you are one of those people that need a calculator then get one…. so by keeping a running total when I get to the checkout I generally know within a dollar or two of what my final total should be and if it’s off we’ll go back over every item if I don’t catch it when they are ringing it up.
She I can’t remember a persons name to save my life but I can remember prices of nearly everything I buy, so I watch when they scan it and I’ll know when it’s wrong.
